The New Mi Box 4S Max (Amlogic S905X3/4GB/64GB)

Xiaomi has recently released the new Mi Box 4S Max in China, while the outside looks the same as past models, the inside has been upgraded with 4GB of RAM and a hefty 64GB of internal storage.

It’s powered by an Amlogic S905X3 quad-core CPU at 1.5GHz and Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. While it does not have AV1 codec support, it is capable of playing 8K video. Xiaomi lists the Mi Box 4S Max on its site for 499¥, which is about $75. Before thinking that’s a steal of a price and wanting to import one in, it surely doesn’t have the necessary credentials to watch Netflix, Prime Video, or other western streaming services.

In terms of connectivity, options abound. The Box has a USB 2.0 port and 3.5mm audio output so you can listen to your programming on external speakers, such as a home theater, for example.
That's not to say it's necessary to use speakers via cable on the device, the box still has the option of connecting an external sound output via Bluetooth. And speaking of wireless, it still has dual band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz) for Internet and sending content via mobile devices.
The device is incredibly compact and can be installed in almost any environment without appearing too much. According to what was said in the ad, the box is 95 millimeters wide and long, as well as 16 millimeters thick and weighs 375 grams.

Xiaomi has made global versions of its Mi Box devices in the past, but there is no word on whether this variant will be available outside of China.
