The new Redmi AX5400 (Wi-Fi 6/2.5Gbps Ethernet/WiFi Mesh)

Redmi added another product to its Wifi 6 routers lineup, this time it´s the Redmi AX5400, a similar version of the Redmi AX6 but with 4×4 160MHz and 4K QAM. The Redmi AX5400 router is marketed for gamers, from its specs features to design.

The first Redmi gaming router includes Wi-Fi 6 with a theoretical maximum speed that could reach 5400 Mbps and with 4 external antennas. It stands out for its futuristic design and its RGB LED front lighting strips with 16 million tones that adapt perfectly to the gaming aesthetic. Everything in the Redmi AX5400 router is aimed at accelerating wireless connectivity to improve online gaming, and we even have 2 WAN ports, one of them high speed 2.5G. Interesting router with a fairly contained price, at least in China, a country where until now it is only available.

Specifications of the Redmi AX5400

The core of the Redmi AX5400 is a Qualcomm IPQ5018 SoC, a Dual Core with an NPU and ARM Cortex-A53 processors that reach a speed of 1 Ghz. We also have 256 MB of DDR3L RAM and 512 MB of NAND Flash. The heat dissipation produced by this router is passive, as usual, no annoying fans.

The processor that manages the Wi-Fi 6 has the IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, IEEE 802.3/3u/3ab protocols and reaches up to 3200 Mbps. This router also supports OFDMA, MU-MIMO, BSS Coloring, Beamforming, IPv6 protocol and WPA3 encryption. The 2.4Ghz band has a 2×2 antenna and reaches a maximum speed of 574Mbps, while the 5Ghz band also has other independent 2×2 antennas that reach up to 4804Mbps.

In the Redmi AX5400 we have a 2.5G WAN port and another Gigabit for the connection bridge with our router and three distribution Gigabit LAN ports. In terms of operating system, we have one based on OpenWRT with the corresponding MiWiFi layer, which we can manage and monitor through a Redmi app.

Price and availability

The new Redmi AX5400 router is now available at Bangood for just 136€.
