Amazon Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen) is now on sale

 

Amazon has released the new 2022 Fire TV Cube, that offers a powerful chipset called – Amlogic POP1-G (octa-core Cortex-A73/A53 processor). Its features are similar to the Amlogic A311D2 SoC (found in Khadas VIM4 SBC). The 2022 Amazon Fire TV Cube offers an HDMI input port, Wi-Fi 6E, and hands-free control via Alexa.

In addition to running the new streamer, Amazon released the new Alexa Voice Remote Pro. New premium Alexa Voice Remote Pro introduces Fire TV’s first-ever Remote Finder feature, backlighting, and customizable buttons for personalized shortcuts. As Amazon says about its latest streaming player “is 2X as powerful as the Fire TV Stick 4K Max” ($54.99). In addition to the characteristic cube shape, the 3rd-gen Fire TV Cube has a powerful processor. As CNX Software reports, it is Amlogic POP1-G (Amlogic AML Popcorn) octa-core processor with four Cortex A73 cores @2.2 GHz, four Cortex-A53 cores @ 2.0 GHz with Arm Mali-G52 MP8 GPU @ 800MHz. In addition, the streaming media player has 2GB RAM and 16GB eMMC storage. BTW, as reported by aftvnews, new Amazon’s 3rd-gen Fire TV Cube will ship with Fire OS 7, not Fire OS 8.

When it comes to streaming, this 4K Ultra HD device supports the latest and most popular audio-video standards. We mean Dolby Vision, HDR 10, HDR10 +, HLG, H.265, H.264, VP9, AV1 decoding. In addition, Dolby Atmos, 7.1 surround sound, 2-channel stereo, and HDMI audio pass-through up to 5.1. Plus, it offers a range of new features, including an HDMI input port, Wi-Fi 6E (2×2 MIMO), Bluetooth 5.2 support, and Super Resolution Upscaling.

Among the ports, there was also the RJ45 Ethernet port, HDMI Out (4Kp60 with HDR (HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision), HDMI input port (to connect a cable box), IR extender port, and USB-A port (for easy connection to compatible webcams). As a certified device (it has Widevine L1 v11, PlayReady 3.3) it supports all available streams on the market up to 4K@60fps. Of course, we must not forget that the Fire TV Cube can be controlled entirely hands-free with Alexa. Amazon says with Fire TV Cube, customers can easily control live TV, cable boxes, and on-demand streaming via Fire TV’s Alexa Voice Remote or hands-free with Alexa.
