The new Mecool KM7 (Amlogic S905Y4 /Android TV v.11)

Mecool KM7 is the latest TV Box from the popular Chinese brand, equipped with the new Amlogic S905Y4 SoC and powered by the Android v.11.

This is a fairly modest box in terms of hardware, since the ports are few and its network connector is only 10/100. It only draws attention to integrate the new Amlogic S905Y4 and include  Android TV 11 certified by Google as an operating system, although as always rule out that we can watch Netflix in 4K. A somewhat basic Box, especially considering what it costs today, we hope it will drop in price soon.

SoC, RAM and storage

The new MECOOL KM7 Smart Box  integrates the new AMlogic S905Y4 SoC,  a Quad Core with ARM Cortex-A35 processors and an ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU that reaches 850 Mhz. This SoC includes decoding of the new AV1 codec , support for video output up to 4K @ 60fps resolutions  and compatibility with Dolby Vision, HDR 10, HDR10+ & HLG.

It comes with 2/4GB DDR4 RAM while for storage we have 16/32GB, a figure that we can expand thanks to the micro SD card reader that we have on the side of the box.

Other specs

For wireless connectivity we have  AC Dual Band Wi-Fi and  Bluetooth 4.2 . The connectors are not too many, we only see a pair of USB 2.0 ports, analog audio and video output, 10/100 network port and an HDMI 2.0 video connector.

The included remote control is via bluetooth and we have direct access buttons to Prime Video, Spotify, Youtube and Google Play as well as a microphone for voice functions.

Price and availability

The new Smart Box Mecool KM7 with certified Android TV 11 can be purchased on AliExpress from about € 137/$160 with shipping and taxes included for Europe.
