NVIDIA SHIELD Experience Upgrade 8.0.2 is out


NVIDIA Shield TV is possibly the Android device with the best and longest support that has ever existed, and today is available a new firmware, the NVIDIA Shield Experience 8.0.2, for the NVIDIA Shield TV 2017 and 2015, and which in turn adds new features and updates key apps.


The SHIELD EXPERIENCE UPGRADE 8.0.2 brings a number of things, the firmware is based on the Android TV 9 Pie system includes interesting additions such as the support for the new Shield TV controller with backlight that comes standard with the 2019 models and substantially improves the previous one.


Under Settings> Display & Sound> Advanced, you can now set color space to match the content. Volume dynamic range has been improved for Bluetooth and USB headsets. The 720p refresh rate switching on supported apps has also been enabled.


NVIDIA has added a number of new options like Bluetooth assist on the SHIELD TV remote app. You can also expect the new “Disconnect Bluetooth accessories” option on quick settings, IR power control options to customize on/off functionality, option to turn off USB power when SHIELD sleep, and option to connect to 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi network with shared SSID.

  • Fixes bug when manually setting “Audio formats” would not be applied.
  • Resolves issue where audio passthrough was not available over USB DAC on 3rd party apps like KODI.
  • Resolves audio drop issues when playing high bit-rate or DolbyTrueHD streams over HDMI passthrough.
General:
  • Channels DVR app can now store recorded content over NAS.
  • Resolves issue where “Match Color Space” was not working properly on some TVs.
  • Fixes bug where screensaver would not be displayed in Neftlix.
  • Resolves issue where pre-installed apps would disappear.
  • Fixes stability issues when connecting to SHIELD from PC over network.
  • Resolves issue where SHIELD LED doesn’t pulse after voice command, after enabling that setting
