The New Raspberry Pi 4 B (Up to 4GB RAM, 2x HDMI 4K/60, 2x USB3.0)

The Raspberry Pi Foundation has presented the long-awaited PCB Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, that includes large improvements compared to the previous model and also maintains its price. The news of this expected PCB are many but highlights especially its new Broadcom BCM2711  processor that includes powerful CPU cores ARM Cortex-A72 and its two compatible video outputs now if with resolutions 4K to 60fps . News very demanded by all the followers of this PCB that surely has a great success.

Development board or TV-Box?

If we compare it with a classic Android TV-Box it is necessary to be clear that we are talking about a development board and therefore its function is intended for users wanting to configure it and buy extras. The motherboard format of this type has no box, has no remote control, does not have Android specifically configured to use it as a TV-Box, does not have integrated eMMC as storage (the SDCards are much slower). Also keep in mind that this model also continues with the GPU VideoCore VI and probably with the same VPUso we can not expect miracles. Soon we will perform a detailed analysis. If we are interested in something simple and working from the second 1 look at our recommended TV-Box .

SoC, RAM and storage

The new Raspberry Pi 4 Model B includes a Broadcom BCM2711 Quad Core SoC with ARM Cortex-A72 processors capable of reaching 1.5 GHz and a VideoCore VI GPU with support for OpenGL ES 1.1, 2.0, 3.0. At the RAM level we have versions with 1/2 / 4GB LPDDR4 and a slot for microSD storage cards.

Other specifications

The new Raspberry Pi 4 at the connectivity level includes 2 USB 3.0 ports, 2 USB 2.0, two microHDMI 2.0 with 4K @ 60fps video output, a USB Type-C for power, 3.5mm AV jack, MIPI-DSI connector, a native Gigabit ethernet port and the usual 40-pin retro-compatible connector with all versions of Raspberry. It also includes WiFi dual band AC and Bluetooth 5.0 + BLE.

Raspberry Pi 4 Model B - specs:

- A 1.5GHz quad-core 64-bit ARM Cortex-A72 CPU (~3× performance)
- 1GB, 2GB, or 4GB of LPDDR4 SDRAM
- Full-throughput Gigabit Ethernet
